If so then read on ! We started using this system in September 07 as a strategy to raise the achievement of a difficult year group and so far so good. Our pupils dived right in with creating their profiles and connecting with friends - then they started uploading and voting on each others work and the competitive spirit grew. We thought we would have problems with abuse or cyber bullying but in fact the opposite has happened - responsible use by pupils. With Schoolpal it's cool to achieve. Our Schoolpal has grown into a schoolwide system with other departments taking advantage of the pupil's enthusiam for social networking; sharing documents, setting tasks and using blogs to help pupils achieve their potential. As our school is in a deprived area of Wales we are eligible for "additionality" grants from the EU and I have used this funding in conjunction with schoolpal to run a couple of online clubs (I get paid supply rate for my time). Our school is also in a rural area and so there are transport issues with after school clubs - Schoolpal has overcome this and I now run a successful digital art club at KS3 and computer game design project with KS5. Most importantly - our kids love it !! We can provide you with your own private version of Schoolpal for a very reasonable price (£165 / yr).
